Northwood Recovery

The first time I started using, it was just a treat. I thought I had it under control but it got worse. When something tragic or stressful happens, I would use drugs to numb my feelings to the point where I became dependent on it. Northwood Recovery has helped me big time. I've been very consistent with my doses, getting them each day and with clean samples. Northwood has showed me to not quit, that being on the program has kept me clean, stayed off the streets, and that it is okay to ask for help. It is a great clinic with no judging and very caring. They will work with you and not against you. Northwood Recovery saved my life.

My addiction started when I got into an accident at work. I realized that I have an addiction by trying to stop using, and experienced the withdrawals from pills which are like having the flu but a thousand times worse. I almost lost everything, my wife, my kids, my job, and my life. My goal is to have a substance free life. Northwood Recovery is very supportive. They have a great staff. The advice that I would like to give others is that, always have hope. This is a problem that can be beat. Look forward but remember the past.

I grew up in an abusive environment. I turned to drugs to cope with my emotions. I realized that I have an addiction when I had no family and friends around me. Northwood Recovery has helped me maintain my sobriety. I want to maintain a stable life and be a good mother to my children and to be a great partner. The advice that I would like to give others is to keep trying, and find support.

I love this clinic, seeing the doctor virtually is faster. When I was at another clinic it would take longer to be seen virtually over an hour to see a doctor. We're in and out. At one clinic I would take 2-3 hours a day on a doctor day. At Northwood I was only seeing my doctor once a month. I feel like I have a better relationship with my doctor and physician's assistant at Northwood.

Thankful to have this program in my life, or else I couldn't survive. I'm sure I would have overdosed again by now. Please don't forget how important this program is to so many. Special thanks to Tamara for her guidance.

Initially, my addiction started because of peer pressure. I started using marijuana when I was in grade 8, I started using cocaine socially every weekend when I was in my 20s; then progressed to abusing prescription morphine. It had become the ‘norm’ and my coping mechanism for depression, anxiety, and PTSD even though that drug abuse maybe the main contribution to my mental distress. I realized that I have an addiction when I was socially withdrawn; a draining bank account; family problems; and withdrawal symptoms. Northwood Recovery has compassionate Doctor’s and staff. They have helped me work on reaching my goals, which are to live peacefully and financially. Also, my goal is to be free of addiction from drugs, cigarettes, and bad relationships. I have been tapering successfully with them. Northwood Recovery has the most assistance I have witnessed and they have good hours of service."
